The Helmholtz Association attaches great importance to protecting personal data. This is why we would like you to know when and what data we collect and how we use this data. We have introduced a number of technical and organisational measures to ensure that the data protection provisions are observed by ourselves as well as by external service providers.
Personal data:
Personal data are items of information that can be used to ascertain your identity (i.e. to find out who you are). This includes information like your name, street and/or postal address, telephone number, and e-mail address. Information that cannot be directly associated with your identity (such as the number of users of the site) is not considered to be personal data. Our website can generally be used without you having to disclose you identity.
If you wish to order information material, newsletters or brochures, you will be asked to provide your name and other personal information required for the provision of this service. You are then free to decide whether you wish to enter these details. We will store your details on specially protected servers located in Germany. Access to these servers is only possible for a few specially authorised persons who are responsible for the technical, business/commercial or editorial management of the servers. When you access our website, data which may enable identification is stored on our servers for back-up purposes (for example, IP address, date, time and pages visited). However, the IP address is not used to identify the user nor to create any directly person-related or pseudonomised user profiles. We reserve the right to statistically analyse anonymised data sets.
Transmission or disclosure of personal data to third parties:
When you use personalised services, such as ordering information material, we will use your personal information within the Helmholtz Association only and will, as necessary, forward it only to companies commissioned with processing the order (brochure dispatch, for example). We will not pass on any information to third parties without your express permission. However, if we are obliged by law or by court order to do so, we will pass on your data to agencies entitled to receive such information. Use of cookies: cookies are used for the publication ordering service. Most browser settings are set to automatically accept cookies. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or can change your browser settings so that you are informed as soon as a cookie is sent.
